Plenty of brown trout out there

Flows from the dam have dropped and are about 220 cfs below the dam.. Anglers can check current here.

Some anglers have reported slower fishing this spring but recent sampling has shown there are plenty of brown trout out there.

Not a lot of hatches lately but there has been some mayfly activity in the evenings. Nymphs and streamers have been most effective. . Casting spinners, and crankbaits is also effective.

ODFW is using a tagging study to evaluate brown trout distribution and movement in the Owyhee tailwater this year. If you catch a tagged fish please report it here. Green tags must be removed to recieve the reward, yellow tags can be left in the fish, just record the number and report the river reach where you caught the fish.
