The Trask gets a run of hatchery spring Chinook salmon, and fishing has picked up in the river again this week with some fish coming out of the hatchery hole and Loren's drift. Last weekend's rain should have pushed more fish into, and up the river. The Salmon/Steelhead Bobber Fishing Rule went into effect May 1st from the marker at Loren's drift up to Cedar Creek boat slide (See page 18 of the sport fishing regulations booklet for details).

Trout season opened in the streams on May 22nd and there are coastal cutthroat trout throughout the Trask basin, including the forks. Last weekends weather should have improved angling conditions and may have brought some sea-run cuthroat into the lower river. Many areas have bait restrictions in place so check the regulations for those and open areas before heading out.
