The ice typically melts in early-to-mid March. As the water warms up, you can find fair to good fishing for northern pike. Northern pike will be very active feeding the first few weeks after ice-off. They spawn in early April and the bite will turn off for about two weeks. Post-spawn fishing can be good using lures that mimic small fish
