The North Fork Nehalem hatchery got the first few winter steelhead back last week and there have even been a few caught. The North Fork has early return hatchery steelhead and with rains over the next few days there should be some coming back over the holiday weekend. Numbers will be low this early, but for those wanting to get an early winter steelhead the North Fork provides one of the best opportunities.
Hatchery coho are also still returning to the North Fork Nehalem and there will still be some fish in good condition. This week's rains should bring in some fresh fish and provide some angling opportunity over the weekend and into next week.
Fall Chinook season closes December 1 on the North Fork and that run is winding down already, but there may still be a little opportunity over the weekend.
