Quite a few salmon have moved into the lower river. Rains this week should continue to move more Chinook into the lower river. The river is still low and clear, so anglers fishing the river tend to do best early morning or late evening when the sun is off the water. ODFW and volunteers collected the first group of chinook broodstock this week. Broodstock collection will occur several more times through the month of October so if anglers are interested in watching they can contact the Gold Beach district office for when the next collection will occur.
The bobber rule is in effect from river mile 2.2 upstream to Nook Creek until November 4. The rule is in place to protect fall Chinook holding in pools during low flow conditions until fall rains arrive.
Anglers will want to check fishing regulation and any updates prior to fishing.
