Flows have stabilized after rains earlier in September. With cooling weather, trout fishing should improve. Anglers have been successful swinging flies for trout, and other methods including casting spinners can be effective.
Fishing for steelhead and coho salmon has been open for about a month. However, warm water temperatures have slowed fish migrating up the Columbia River. Few steelhead or coho are likely in the Grande Ronde River at this time, but as the weather cools, more should move in.
