Fall Chinook fishing in the Trask River remains slow above tidewater. This week's rain probably brought a few fish into the lower river, but numbers will still be low until we get more water. The Tillamook basin (including the Trask) has a reduced wild adult fall Chinook bag limit of 1/day and 2/season as part of the overall daily limit. See the regulation updates online for more details. The Trask from 200 feet above to 900 feet below Gold Creek at Trask Hatchery (which includes the "hatchery hole") is closed to angling July 16 – October 15.
The Trask gets a run of hatchery coho, but like the Chinook they most likely won't be moving above tidewater until we get a decent amount of rain, there are probably a few in the lower river however There is no retention of wild coho upstream of the Highway 101 bridge.
There are resident coastal cutthroat trout throughout the Trask basin, including the forks, and sea-run cutthroat have moved into the river as well. Many areas have bait restrictions in place so check the regulations for those and open areas before heading out.
The Trask River from the marker at the Dam Hole (MP 7 on Trask River Rd) up to Blue Ridge Creek is closed to angling September 1 to November 30.
