Spring Chinook fishing continues to be fair in Tillamook Bay with moderate numbers of fish being caught consistently both in lower bay as well as in the upper bay near the Memaloose boat ramp and even up into the Trask and Tillamook tidewater. Favorable weather conditions for angling this weekend should get fish active and probably push some fish upriver; hopefully it will also bring some fresh fish in. Trolling herring is a go-to technique for the lower bay, especially out by the jetty's while in the upper bay spinners, plugs, and bobber fishing can also be effective.
Trout season opened in the rivers and bays on May 22nd. It's still a little early but sea-run cutthroat trout should be starting to show up in the bay.
Fishing for rockfish and kelp greening should still be decent near the mouth of the bay (by boat or off the North Jetty. Ling cod fishing will start slowing down inside the bay as the summer goes on, but there is still a chance. Surf perch fishing also slows down in the bay and anglers will find better success on the beaches during the summer.
